Yes, I know, I design JEWELRY......Met an interesting Amish Family that I just wanted to work with. They grow gourds and create the most wonderful birdhouses! All are handpainted; this Sunflower design is the most popular, I'm also experimenting on some Celtic designs. We had a nest in ours within a week.....birds LOVE them. It's been up all year, its endured heat, wind, rain, snow, and still looks as pretty as on day one. Great Yard Art!
Bluebirds, martins, finches, swallows, wrens---to name a few, tend to like natural gourd as a nesting place over the more traditional wood box products.
